Albert Christmas

Biography

Actor, Teacher, Director/Choreographer, Singer and Dancer all exemplify the ubiquitous talents of Albert Christmas. From his professional debut at the age of 11 in the European premiere of the Broadway musical Raisin Albert has been privileged to show his talent the world over. Most recently that includes episodes of CBS's Blue Bloods and the premiere of new musical Central Avenue Breakdown in New York City and Daegu, Korea.

Originally from Mississippi, Albert began his artistic pursuits in Cleveland, Ohio and then Washington, D.C. before receiving a B.A. degree from Hampton University. It was then on to New York University's Tisch School of the Arts for his M.F.A. degree. Since then, Albert has lived and performed in Canada, Europe, Asia and around the U.S. Notable credits include the world (Toronto) and Broadway premiere's of Tony Award winning musical Ragtime; film-short festival selection Taipei (Berlin, Atlanta, L.A.), written and produced by Albert; numerous performances in D.C. - John F. Kennedy Center, Fords Theater; NYC - New York City Opera, The Public Theater, Lucille Lortel Theater, off-off Broadway; regional houses - North Carolina Stage Co., Crossroads Theatre (NJ), Kitchen Theatre (NY), Worcester Foothills (MA).

A member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA and other unions, Albert has also worked in short films, soaps and industrials and television as a principal actor. He has also flexed his directing/choreographic muscles in New York, co-directing and co-producing web series The Jaime Jackson Show and notably Taipei, Taiwan, where he lived, studied Chinese Opera acrobatics/dance and produced/choreographed an evening of entertainment, ooh the action! Bill T. Jones, Graciela Daniele, Frank Gallati, and Tazewell Thompson are a few of the directors Albert has had the chance to work with. Classical, modern, ethnic, drama, and comedy all cover the visual and musical spectrum of art endeavors Albert has been a part of.

Teaching has also been a successful career choice, from acting to musical theater to dance with community programs, collegiate programs and professional seminars with Lincoln Center and Actors Equity among many others. Albert has taught students as young as six years to professional adults. This includes master classes in acting and directing at City College New York and SE Missouri State U. Another career aspect includes work as a sound, light and set technician with Roundabout Theater in New York City, and Jacob's Pillow Festival in Massachusetts and NYU.
